Figurative Fine Art

For most of human history, the arts have celebrated the natural beauty of the human form. The human form has stood at the center of Art's most powerful expressions. Sculptures once towered in town squares, immortalizing our ideals in stone, wood or bronze. Paintings adorned sacred spaces, turning ceilings and walls into tributes to human grace and divinity. These masterworks weren't just beautiful, they called to us to recognize something timeless and noble within ourselves.

I have been working from the figure for almost 50 years now. I recieved my BFA from Miami University, Oxford Ohio. My MFA in Painting from Clemson University, SC, with a semester in Italy. Continued education from my traveled journey around many parts of this world.

Exploring the human form, the expression of the emotions those images create has been my general focus. Celebrating the beauty of the human figure, has never faded. So, most of my works still continue to work initially from the model. This studio has allowed that journey to continue. My painting and drawings from the beginning, have been almost entirely figurative. The photography from/of the nude is more recent history, but my imagery and expression, composition and form, definitely shows the influence of being taken with the eye of a painter. It also shows that art is a continuing learning journey. From life, the collaboration with others, in observation and listening to others thoughts and ideas.

The Studio: My Creative Space

I hope to create a collaborative artist studio space and an environment where artists can share their thoughts and ideas, and also create and show their work.

Located at 1011c St Andrews Blvd, West Ashley, SC (Charleston), This 1500 square foot space offers shared studio space for a few select artists, and drawing sessions from the model with small groups.

I have been asked many times to provide a personalized and professional service for Photography and/or Painting of clients to celebrate and capture each persons unique individual beauty. Whether capturing our youth for the future you, capturing the beauty in the older you, turning insecurity to empowerment, or revealing a version of your beauty that you might not realized existed. If you are interested in modeling for future drawing sessions, please go to the "Modeling" tab at the top of this page for more information. We always need and welcome new models. Of course, all of you can participate as well in the drawing sessions as an artist. I have been a drawing instuctor in the past, love teaching, and would be happy to help anyone participating. Drawing sessions are "as space is available". There is a fee of $25 for two hours. for those participating in that session. and this goes to pay our models.
